Gesture-based language for sharing music

Mathias Dahlström developed in his thesis at IDII a gesture-based language for sharing data (in his case: music). He uses the fresbee as a metaphore for throwing music towards the receiver.

Embodied Music Sharing

Sharing music expands the sound bubble around you to encompass other people in the same space. Both interactions with people and listening to music has tactile elements to it. The music runs through our body and out to our identites. Instead of thinking about visual screen interfaces for interacting with music sourcs this project suggests ways of using the motion of our bodies and social skills to define how and why we share music with people on the move.
